BLOG 1: COVER AND CONTENTS DESIGN

This week in AICE Media Studies I focused on beginning the creation of my first and second pages for my magazine in the InDesign Program. Initial Efforts in this creation process have proved somewhat challenging, as I am learning the program as I create these pages. I have made great use of the shape design tool, allowing me to outline and build my magazine without looking to other programs. I am also making use of the color tool properly color in the shoes I have placed. The InDesign program is quite intuitive, and for someone who is good with tech it is quite easy to understand after some initial difficulties. The Cover page is nearly complete, all I require now is the picture of a phone head that will go in the middle and the insertion of text. The contents page is also coming quite well, with a phone book logo that needs to be created to complete the design. I will continue to make the remaining designs for my magazine pages so that I may focus on other aspects such as images and the feature article.

Post Production 2: Focus of Your Editing                The final page of my magazine was liked by the class, but definitely required some separation of text due too the unique design of the page itself. I had added black lines to the final page to make it more clear to readers which text belongs to which picture, I have also resized the font on the page to make it easier to read. While making some further observations of my magazine I have also slightly touched up the front page once more by covering up any photoshop artifacts that made the cover page photo look bad or too unprofessional. While I have done all that I believe is necessary to make my magazine a decent product, I am still disappointed that I was unable to find the phone that I wanted to replace the cover page photo. I have done the most with what I had and believe I have created a good product.

Magazine Cover Review

  MAGAZINE COVER REVIEW:             The magazines that had been shown in the interactive lecture during this latest week in class were normally passed during most of my life. I had never put much thought in to how much detail and symbolism goes in to making a magazine attractive to the eye and the mind. When magazines are positioned at the checkout lines in supermarkets, I would usually think about who was still reading magazines when the internet is so easily available. With the knowledge I know now however, it is obvious to see appreciation and enjoyment some individuals get from magazines.             Perhaps my stigma about magazines did derive from a belief that people would not be able to pay attention enough to a magazine to read an article all the way through. Final Draft: Retro Review - The Return of The King?

  I have worked to create this final product upon which you now have the pleasure of viewing. Countless hours of software creativity and experimentation have resulted in what now appears before you. From the elaborate cover page to the ingenious main article, allow yourself to be transported to the past which you may or may not have experienced for yourself, and hope to relive or experience that which has so clearly been passionately recreated. May you who reads this message, and anyone else who decides to bestow themselves upon the fruits of my labor find my work as wonderous and phenomenal as I have through my own countless readings and corrections.
